MY STORY

Trusted Counselling Professional

Are you looking for a counsellor and unsure of where to start?

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor. I offer a safe, non-judgemental, private space in which we can take time to explore your concerns and difficulties.

My approach is based on the understanding that successful therapy comes from a secure relational base. I believe being comfortable with your therapist is an essential part of the process and our relationship - how we get along - is important.

Alongside counselling I have developed an Enhanced Wellbeing Programme, a potential first step for those unsure of counselling or those wishing to improve their sense of self.

I am also trained in the NADA 5 Point Auricular Acupuncture Protocol - a useful tool to treat anxiety, sleep disorders, trauma and addiction withdrawal.

Please feel free to contact me for an informal chat to see if this is a way forward for you.

COUNSELLING

Embrace Life’s Challenges

Sometimes life and feelings can overwhelm us and counselling can provide a space in which you can reflect and gain perspective. Counselling enables greater understanding and self-awareness, whilst affording an opportunity to build confidence and support strategies.

Trusting in therapy can be difficult as it asks us to look at painful and uncomfortable feelings.  It may feel scary but you will not be entering into this alone.  Identifying your aims for therapy, we will work together to achieve your goals.  As an integrative therapist, I seek to support you by utilising my wide knowledge framework to meet your individual needs.

I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their Ethical Framework.

AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE

The NADA Protocol involves inserting five small acupuncture needles into specific points of the outer ear.

The outer ear acts like a switchboard that sends impulses to the brain, which stimulate the release of endorphins, lowers stress and induces relaxation. (NADA-GB, 2019)

Utilising the microsystem found within the outer ear the protocol was devised to support addicts in withdrawal.  It has since been found beneficial in treatment of sleep disorders, post- traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression.

Discounts available for group sessions (4 Max) - please contact for further details.

     COVID 19 GUIDANCE

Risk Assessment Statement

Risk Assessment Overview

In order to reduce the risk of infection, it is important that certain procedures are assessed and measures put in place.  Whilst there are general procedures which need to be adopted, I am mindful of individual needs.  It may not be appropriate for some to have face to face sessions due to vulnerabilities. If you are a clinically vulnerable person please contact me and I will seek to offer an alternative solution where possible.

I am aware of my obligations toward your care and my duty to provide a safe and secure environment for all clients; however, as a client you are a part of the risk assessment process and as a result I must trust you and your ability to be equally as transparent.  If you feel ill, have any symptoms, or at risk from exposure to COVID-19, it may not be reasonable or appropriate for a face to face session - even with all possible precautions. As such, as the therapist I reserve the right to make this decision based on the facts at my disposal.

Actions:

Reducing Risk of Contamination/Spread and specific use of PPE on site:

  • The room will be cleaned and disinfected before appointments.

  • Hand sanitiser is available on arrival.

  • There is signage advising hand-washing/sanitising practice.

  • Hand sanitiser and tissues are provided for client use throughout the session.

  • Paper towels and a bin will be provided alongside hand-washing facilities.

  • There is a toilet available for clients and antibacterial wipes are provided to clean down after use.

  • The room will be aired after each client leaves.

  • I will leave the door open for the client to safely enter.

  • To enable continuous ventilation I will leave the stable door ajar and a window partially open.

  • The chairs have been situated 2m apart to provide adequate social distancing.

  • At the end of the session I will open the main door and step away so providing space to leave

Reducing Risk of Contamination/Spread and specific use of PPE - Home Visits:

  • I will wear a mask/visor when working at a clients home.

  • Please can facilities be provided so that I may wash my hands when entering and leaving the property.

  • Where possible I will look to maintain the 2 metre distancing and ventilation of rooms.

  • I will provide my own food and drink if necessary.

  • If I am in contact with the clients property i.e. assisting in clearing and cleaning I will wear gloves at all times.

Risk Statement - NADA GB Auricular Acupuncture Protocol

As a NADA GB practitioner I already follow specific practice guidelines. In addition to these I will now send a consent form by email before treatment, to be signed and returned, or agreed to be signed at the clinic before treatment.

  • Clients must sign to agree:

    1. That the acupuncturist can approach closer than 2 meters and to be able to physically contact their body to administer the acupuncture.

    2. That they recognise and accept the increased risk of COVID-19 transmission.

    3. That they accept responsibility for their part in agreeing to receive acupuncture.

    4. That they agree to report any COVID-19 symptoms within 14 days of leaving clinic.

If the client does develop COVID-19 symptoms within 14 days of leaving the clinic- they must activate exposure protocol, ie. to Isolate for 21 days,

They must equally follow the HSE guidance regarding COVID-19 and RIDDOR (reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations 2018)

  • On arrival you will be required to wash/sanitise your hands.

  • During the procedure I will be wearing a visor and a mask.

  • I am unable to wear gloves as it is unsafe when administering needles.

  • All equipment used is disinfected between treatment and, if applicable, couch coverings replaced.

  • Please bring your own mask or face covering and a blanket or large towel if you wish to lay something over you when having the treatment.

  • To limit contact I will ask you to move your head using simple instructions and to follow my hand guidance.

  • Needles are only ever handled by me and removed by me into the clinical waste container.

  • After the procedure I will ask you to wipe your own ear with an alcohol wipe and dispose of in the bin provided.

Note: Each party holds an obligation to be aware of and report to the other, any factors which may increase the risk of infection, including any COVID-19 symptoms within 14 days of meeting. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
